How do I prepare 0.1N HCl solution?

0.1 N HCl

In this article, we will discuss about the How do I prepare 0.1N HCl solution

So, firstly Let's talk about the basic about HCl.

HCl is a strong acid, mainly used in chemistry laboratory and chemical Industry. It is strong acid that why is can cause burns. So, handle it with very carefully.

Here, in this article we prepare 0.1N HCl. That means 0.1 moles of HCl per liter of solution.

Requirements for preparing 0.1N HCl solution:

Let's consider about the apparatus and chemicals used for this solution preparation.

1) Molar mass of HCl is 36.5 g/mol. So, for preparing 0.1N means 0.1 moles of HCl per liter of solution. For 1 liter of 0.1N HCl we want 3.65g of HCl.

2) Volumetric flask.

3) Distilled water.

Steps for preparing 0.1N HCl solution:

1) Take 3.65g of HCl and add it into volumetric flask.

2) Add distilled water to the volumetric flask until it becomes 1 liter mark. That means add water to the flask until it becomes the 1 liter mark on the volumetric flask.

3) Now, stir the solution until the HCl is completely or totally dissolved.

4) Mark the volumetric flask with the date, name and concentration. This helps to keep track of our solutions and we can used within the expire date.

So, finally our 0.1N HCl solution is prepared.

Tips for Handling apparatus :

• Always wear protective gloves and goggles.

• When we add HCl to volumetric flask then use funnel for avoid spills and splashes.

• Add HCl slowly and stirring it gently.

• Don't use tap water because it contains impurities that can be affected on the accuracy of the solution.

So, try this steps for preparing solution.  Best of luck for preparing a 0.1N HCl solution.
