How do you prepare a 5% KI solution?
For preparing a 5% KI (Potassium iodide) solution, we want the following chemicals:
A) Water (Distilled).
B) KI crystals / tablets.
Steps for prepare 5% KI solution:
Now, follows the below steps for preparing a 5% potassium iodide solution.
1) Collects the all materials that are necessary to prepare this solution.
2) Now, its measuring time. Take appropriate amount of KI crystals or tablet's. Now, here we need 5% solution then we want 50g of KI tablet for every one liter of distilled water.
(5% Potassium iodide solution that is 5 g of KI. 5g of KI tablet should dissolve in 100 ml of water. And 50 g of KI dissolved in 1000ml or 1 liter distilled water).
3) In third step, make a tiny powder of KI tablets or crystals.
4) Now, take a one clear and clean container , and put this measured amount of potassium iodide powder to a measured amount of water.
5) Stir, the solution until the KI powder is fully dissolved.
6) In 6th step, we have easy work i.e. Marking on the container with concentration of the solution and date also.
7) In last step, store this solution in a cool and dark room.
So, this are 7 steps for prepare a 5% KI solution.
Notes:
Use gloves and goggles to protect from the KI solution.Tap after contains many types of impurities that can affected on the concentration of the solution. So use only distilled water for preparing this KI solution.
When add KI powder to tge water the it's necessary to stir the solution until the KI is fully dissolved.
It is necessary to store the KI solution in cool or dark room for preventing degradation.
