1) Cut one pound of butter into cubes and add them to a bigger skillet or pot on minimum or at low heat.
2) Then, allow the butter to melt and bring it to a simmer. Using a slotted spoon, remove any foam or milk solids that float to the surface of the pot.
3) Allow the ghee to cook for 15 to 20 minutes, until the milk solids begin sinking to the bottom and turn a deep golden color. The Ghee should also become very fragrant, with a rich, Nutty aroma.
4) Once it’s ready, stop the heat and let the Ghee cool for a several minutes.
5) Lastly, use a cheesecloth or coffee filter and strain the ghee into a glass container with a lid.
6) Home prepared ghee can be kept at room temperature for 3 to 5 months or refrigerated for up to one year.
